Since we wanted to try so many things on the menu we decided to order 2 combos so we each could choose 2 different meals. We tried the Curried Fried Catfish, Fried Shrimp Remoulade Poboy, Crawfish E'touffee, Seafood Gumbo, Bread Pudding, and Beignets. Everything was delicious. Our favorite was the Curried Fried Catfish and the Gumbo. The Gambinos French Bread used to make the Poboy was soft and fresh. The portions were good size, we had leftovers and made sure to get to go boxes so we could take with us to enjoy the rest later. Another thing that makes this restaurant a 5 star experience is the staff!! So many restaurants nowadays lack in customer service but not this one. The team members at this restaurant go above and beyond and you feel like they genuinely want to help you. They chat with you like you're old friends. The owner, chef/manager, and Elise (host) were absolutely wonderful. I'm posting pictures with this review, sorry some pictures were taken after we started eating. 😋
Seen somebody recommend Marylin’s online so I decided to stop by otw back to Dallas. It was well worth it l. The poboy is good. I loved the in house ranch and the fries.
The ONLY complaint I have is that it's so far from my home. About 7 hour drive but after today I'm thinking of making the drive a lot! This place is incredible! Food is so delicious, service is outstanding and the vibe is fun! They had a DJ today. We had our dog and we had no problems with sitting with him. They have tons of very cool spots to sit with your dog. Stop reading this and go get ya some deliciousness!
Driving through Shreveport today (Sunday) and stopped at Marilynn’s for brunch. Was a bit intimidated by the full parking lot and long line to the register, but the line moved fast and there was enough seating for everyone. The food was excellent and came out quickly. My party tried a bit of everything. I was impressed with the breakfast bowl and the beans and rice. Very fun, neighborly, laid back atmosphere. The staff were all very nice and really seemed to enjoy their jobs.
Pleasantly surprised that Marilynn’s Place lived up the hype! We ordered the shrimp remoulade salad and the special of the night, a beef bacon sandwich. The food came out super fast and was incredibly fresh. The shrimp cured my craving for seafood, and they tasted perfect, having been domestically sourced! We got the bread pudding for dessert and my husband said it was light and delicious. Parking is a little dicey, but there are some residential streets a short walk away, and they said they’re working on finding more parking in the near future.
Fun local spot that I'd love to revisit. I got the Spicy Shrimp Po Boy and Sweet Potato fries, and while it was a bit pricey, I think it was absolutely worth it for the quality and quantity of food. I think they did a fantastic job with the presentation of the food too. It *looks* as great as it tastes.
Marilynn’s is a gem. Truly great New Orleans style dishes in Shreveport. Anytime I’m in the area, this is a must stop. Shrimp & grits, biscuits, beignets. Everything is excellent, elevated, fresh. Can’t recommend highly enough.
My family and I were visiting from out of state for the first time and popped into this spot. The owner came up and introduced himself personally and walked us through the menu. He even sent us complimentary beignets to wrap up our experience. There was live music, quality A/C, and our table was manicured by the staff as items were finished to keep our table clean. The food/service was outstanding. This is a business driven by passion- shown both through the food and hospitality!
The shrimp and grits at Marilynn’s Place were absolutely incredible! The shrimp were perfectly cooked, seasoned just right, and packed with flavor. The grits were creamy, rich, and the perfect complement to the dish. Every bite tasted fresh and authentic Louisiana-style. The portions were generous, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was worth every penny. If you’re a shrimp and grits fan, this is a must-try when you’re in Shreveport. I’ll definitely be back for another plate!
From the service, to the food, to the taste everything was spot on! I ordered the “Mix and Match” where I ordered the spicy shrimp poyboy and crawfish e’touffe’e. It was all flavorful and delicious! You definitely get your money’s worth if you want a quick bite to eat!
